Paul B.S. Lai, MD, BS

Dr. Paul B S Lai is currently chairman of the Department of Surgery and assistant dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He received education and training as a specialist general surgeon in Hong Kong. He undertook his post-graduate training in basic research and hepato-biliary surgery at the University of Edinburgh and the Chinese University of Hong Kong and he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1998. Apart from being an academic surgeon in general surgery and hepato-biliary and pancreatic surgery, Dr. Lai has keen interest in teaching of medical students and surgical trainees. His research interests range from clinic research in surgery and basic medical research in cancer. He is currently chief-editor of Surgical Practice, the official journal of the College of Surgeons of Hong Kong.
