Abstract: The talk will cover the staging of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and how it pertains to the ideal surgical management. We will also cover other alternative therapies to resection, such as liver-directed therapies. Next, we will combine the information to define technically and oncologically resectable tumors, unresectable tumors, and borderline resectable tumors to suggest clinical pathways for management of this disease. Finally, we will discuss a prospective trial currently underway utilizing preoperative chemotherapy prior to resection for oncologically high-risk tumors.

Keywords: Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma; clinical pathways; technical resectability; oncologic resectability; clinical trials
