Higher consumption of animal organ meat is associated with a lower prevalence of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis
Organ meat is a more nutrient dense food than plant foods, or meat consumed as skeletal muscle. We found that higher daily consumption of animal organ meat was associated with lower prevalence of NASH in Chinese adults with biopsy-proven NAFLD.
Foregut bypass vs. restrictive bariatric procedures for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease: a meta-analysis of 3,355 individuals
This meta-analysis aimed to compare metabolic, biochemical, and histological parameters for patients with NAFLD undergoing restrictive bariatric procedures vs foregut bypass. Significant histological and metabolic advantages and comparable improvements in biochemical outcomes support the choice of foregut bypass over restrictive bariatric procedures in NAFLD management.
Assessment of long-term graft function following total pancreatectomy and autologous islet transplantation: the Leicester experience
The win ratio favored laparoscopic over open resection of colorectal liver metastases relative to 90-day mortality, severity of postoperative complications, time to recurrence and margin status (WR 1.82, 95%CI 1.42-2.34). Laparoscopic resection was favored regardless of sex, age, tumor burden or unilobar/bilobar disease.
Using the win ratio to compare laparoscopic versus open liver resection for colorectal cancer liver metastases
Obesity and its influence on liver dysfunction, morbidity and mortality after liver resection
This large retrospective cohort study of 888 patients demonstrates that liver resections can safely be performed in obese patients. Postoperative complications and PHLF of 167 obese patients were comparable to normal weight and overweight patients.
